Het Sleutelgat/The Keyhole
de afstand tussen ons
is zo geweldig groot
onmeetbaar in ruimte
voelbaar kloven van begrip
intellect verspild
in een wispelturig briesje
trots gedragen als een medaille
een blik achter gesloten deuren
glurend door het sleutelgat
niets dan leegte is me zichtbaar
dan ontmoeten onze ogen
en ik voel je gluren
ik sta onbewogen
weerspiegelend in niets

the distance between us so huge
not measurable in space
but in deep chasms of misunderstanding
windows of opportunity closed
doors locked with invisible keys
intellectual exchange lost on a fanciful breeze
pride worn like medals of a hero
As I peek through the keyhole of the locked door
all I see is a vast empty space
then our eyes meet as you also peek, I step aside
to let you see the mirrored emptiness in me
I whisper softly, do you feel, do you hear, do you see
there is no reply to my distant plea

killea: That is neither here nor there, the dual facet of the poem is the mirrored effect/feelings of the male/female in the tragic drama, the slight differences easily determining the gender. (well you know the English one is the woman, of course Moi! Ha Ha)
