Looking at her
I cannot dislodge her face
from her soul behind it.
Her look is always first,
overwhelming my brain
that's struggling to ward off
her expression.
I am trying not to see but
to feel her being and her generosity.
It is so powerful
I feel like capitulating,
declaring myself satisfied
with what we established,
aware of my inability
to match her force.
The beauty would lie
in the courage to refrain
from further sweet satisfaction
in lieu of more infatuation and equal
if not greater subsequent agony.
