Weeping Willow

Earliest memories return
nudged by a poet's writing
painting on the old ones' wall
tranquil willow inviting
aborted from the blanket nest
security of another generation
into a life that would test
survival at the highest level
child lived, internally died
seeking solace amongst the fronds
with her another willow cried

across the oceans back to origin
reminiscing, the old ones long gone
tree in the painting, now inherited
three generations later, it still grows strong
sounds of its motion in the gentle breeze
a welcoming melancholic song
