Zandvoort Beauty
In the centre of the promenade
she kneels, naked, grand
magnificent in bronze
high above the sand
no-one knows her name
her splendour goes unseen
she greets the first ray of dawn
facing the North Sea
withstanding every storm
she makes no claim to fame
the setting sun swathes her body
warm, radiant, it bids her good night
she continues her unadorned stance
under the sky's star stippled light
her nakedness no shame
there is no plaque or nomenclature
historians asked, all answered the same
she's been there forever, it seems
who knows from whence she came
they do not know her name
Jan van Luijn was the one who cast her
the Zandvoort beauty, De Zonnebaadster

Sounds a bit like the statue of the Lady in the Port in Kopenhagen.
Every seaside city should have one, universally connected and passing the first rays of the day from one to another!
Nice to wonder about something most people just pass without even bothering...
xx
Dicky killea: She is not as sleek as the little mermaid of Copenhagen, but grand and beautiful nevertherless.
