When night time falls
and spreads its cloak
of smooth and glistening velvet
upon reality's illusions
my spirit sheds its
smothering shroud of
mediocrity, spreads its wings
and takes flight
Floating on the
soothing winds of silence
to the edges of existence
and beyond where there is
no time, no end and no beginning
until the piercing rays
of cold morning's early light
drive my spirit in retreat
behind its mask, its skin
its camouflage
