What if
The falling star disintegrated
before I could make a wish
my thoughts of you linger
and I wonder, what if
time and space a universal race
we go on living, thinking, hoping
history gone, here and now
we settle for what is
giving as much as we could get
no room for regret
and yet
it remains, out there, what if…
tantalising fantasies
the mind succumbs to flight
time not on our side
poetry oozes in metaphors
love knows no boundaries
regret knows only sorrow
here and now, and tomorrow
we look ahead and borrow
today passes in a second
each hour, each day passive
with longing for your face
absence makes the heart ache
a rare gift of living
with the time given
my heart bleeds love forever
my head screams, what if

Three poems in one
heart ans head should not fight
but in balance unite killea: it's a constant conflict Dora

Wonderful poem but sometimes words force their existence, rupturing the flow and overshadowing the feelings they are meant to express. killea: many thanks for your insightful feedback
