As I sit to write
nothing but nothing
comes to mind, except
the countdowns to loneliness
I sat for a while and cried
when you left this time
you, my rock in the sea, gone
I have nothing to hold on
three days to go
and all else I have left
will be gone too
rivers of hot tears imbue
fill my days with obligations
which make me crazy
the sun tries to shine
into the dark spaces
but blindness fills
these empty places

ran several blocks
to block out the monkey
gibbering to my brain
and again you come through
received your card
so loving and endearing
and I relax a little wanting
letting go the overbearing
seek another route
to take away the pain
one step at a time
one step at a time
one step…..

all will come right
just a little later
patience, diligence
one step at a time
