The wheel of fortune
has so many spokes
nine out of ten
are fateful jokes
just when you think
you have hit the mark
the wheel turns again
imperceptibly steals the spark
yet once in a while
the universe is fair
and you find and grab
a chance laid bare
the wheel stops and you love
as if you had never known pain
until the fickle wheel
starts to move again...
