he darkly broods
sitting at the table
a glass of wine
an empty bottle, one half full
in the vase a single rose
a withering petal falls
for a moment his attention
is focussed on the dying bloom
another drink, a cigarette
pen and paper remain untouched
just another letter unwritten
as the second petal falls...
