The sun had not quite slipped
below the roofs of the mansions
on the other side of the canal,
the young one sat in the grass
on the edge of the water,
her feet splashing half circular rings,
which flowed, ever increasing in size,
to dissipate at the opposite verge,
it was pleasantly warm sitting
on the bench, under the trees
which flank the waterway on both sides,
the wolf stretched out at my feet,
picturesque, peaceful, summer's eve,
a miniscule moment in time, we three,
a simple memory...
