He said nothing..
When he came home he was changed -
dark and silent
she asked, who are you
he said nothing
she asked about the heat, and dust and smell of death
he said nothing
she asked about his nightmares and tears
he said nothing
and just before he drowned in silence
she pulled him out of the abyss
a soothing balm on his pain
she loved him with her body and soul
and when he spoke
she recognized him.
Before he left once more, he asked
will you honour me when I return
she said I love you
he said nothing but held her tight
she wept a little
he went away for eleven months
and on his return
she said I love you
he said nothing
and was honoured by all
she cried and held out the child
born in his absence
he said nothing
she said, it is so hard to live without you
and wailed in futile despair
he said nothing
and when his ultimate silence
could no longer be endured
she whispered, we will honour you forever..
feedback van andere lezers- Magdalena
dit is zo diep en mooi en romantisch
onvoorwaardelijke liefde
maar ik zou het wel liever in Nederlandse versie lezen
volgens mij zitten er hier en daar foutjes tegen het Engels?
(loved him with body and soul, (geen her)
die middeleeuwse toon is wel veel moeilijker uit te drukken in het Nederlands natuurlijk
veel groetjes,
Magdalena
killea: Hi Magdalena, Although I speak and read Nederlands, my writing in dutch leaves a lot to be desired. Thank you so much for your comments. Best regards Killea - lief

I don't know if you ever read a book of Julliet Marillier, she writes historical fantasy books and this poem reminds me of one of her ancient celtic stories, love it! :) killea: Thank you so much Eleni
