She had the longest beard…
Between the hair of the ocean floor
swaying in the Gulf stream
he saw her, big with the longest beard
she was the most beautiful he had ever seen
open, watching him as he responded
his little heart beat fast as he moved towards her
her gills quivering, ready for her chosen mate
she called to him, my name is Mytilusa
his hinge ligament going faster
love at first sight, he couldn't believe his luck
for this moment he had waited
totally sea star struck
she slowly closed, the saddest wave she gave
he was so close when they heard the rumble
the trawler scooped her up in its net
everything on the ocean floor in a tumble
he retreated into his lonely, tight shell
she, gone to be dinner on someone's plate
broken by his loss, he lay down in front of a predator
the delighted crab promptly ate
with his true love, his mate, he chose to share a similar fate…

het klinkt magisch tragisch mooi (voor zover ik het verstaan heb, want het Engels is wel heel cryptisch voor me) killea: Yes, two mussels - tragic
