Ruby wood
he was so young
adventure on his mind
adrenalin flying high
never calculating
so many would have to die
he was so good
in whatever he was taught
moved up the ranks
comaraderie
he led with skill, occasional pranks
he was so clear
about each mission
indoctrinated for the good
hired out to the powers that be
sanguine ruby wood
he was so hurt
physically repaired
but the rot set in his head
platoon each to his own
all but two now dead
he was so lost
remorse sheds bloody tears
enlightenment and recognition
bullseye for once
he had no ammunition
he is so loved
as he searches ambiguously
in his misty twilight zone
forgotten by nations he served
his quest he walks alone
ruby wood, ruby wood
blood, sweat and tears
felled in your prime
you burn so slow
split so hard
smouldering black glow
ruby wood………….

Waarom heb ik geen spijt van de dingen die ik ooit heb gedaan?
Is het omdat mijn hart is verkoold? Of is het dat ik heb geleerd te verdragen en te vergeven?
Of heb ik vergeten 'lief' te hebben?
Is het 'dat' wat mij heeft gemaakt tot wat ik ben?
Zoveel vragen, waarop ik niet eens meer een antwoord zoek.
Ik heb vrede met mijn bestaan.
