Metropolis Now
clock in
buzzer shrieks
everyone runs
frenzy freaks
get on with chore
laborious tasks
brain-dead bore
no smiles no laughs
out with the old
indigenous few
in with poles
so desperate too
buzzer shrieks
a short reprieve
bosses watch
no second to deceive
final depressing hours
hold back tears
nothing gained
just wasted years
buzzer shrieks
rush for the door
heart lifts for shift change
clock out once more
schools still teach
they lost the war
but they took the peace
via the open back door
takeovers
makeovers
their own personnel bureau
new world order
enslaved to their Euro
multinational in every megalopolis
Fritz Lang your genius vision
in Metropolis

groetjes killea: many thanks Kerima Ellouise

I quit before it gets a story...
love the power of your vision on our society June killea: appreciate your FB Jamal the film was produced in 1927 (silent movie) - a masterpiece

I've only seen few fragments of 'Metropolis'... sometimes they show the film on television...
Friz Lang went to the USA later on, as did many German directors.
A little bit Jules Verne-like and so bleak, scaring and also true.
Much more gruesome than 'Modern Times' with Chaplin. killea: Yes, but it is so indicative of what is happening in the big mulitnational distribution centres and factories after takeovers by the powers that be.......... thanks for fine FB love
