Crow
late past midnight
loud tap, tap, tapping
from the terrace above
heard the tapping and flapping
looked up at the skylight
there to my dismay
a crow tapped his code
messenger, what do you say?
bird of witches, scary to see
wings spread, ready to be away
he hovered awhile, in the light of the room
and I swear he looked into my soul
his Morse I could not understand
bearer of significance, flying troll
good news or bad
sleepless, I pondered all night
fly away take my message
into the light…
