I woke up shivering
saw a huge shadow on the wall
for a moment thought it was you
reality slowly kicked in
it wasn't you at all

as naturally leaves' slow fall begin
no sign of your leave to come
from a war, one cannot win
your obligations much to high
to separation we must succumb

we could have made a memory
for a moment in time just flow
no news at all from Afghanistan
not a word to give me hope
to allow our love to grow…
